Katherine Ann Rowlands has worked as a journalist for 30 years, covering news in the Bay Area, Central California and overseas. As a 2017 JSK Journalism Fellow at Stanford University, she focused her research on how to overcome gender disparities in newsrooms, especially in leadership positions, and how to bolster local news coverage in the Bay Area. Stacey Kennelly Nester
Alice Crane worked as an editor at several East Bay papers, including the Contra Costa Times, Oakland Tribune and Hayward Review. She also worked as a reporter for United Press International and for Bay City News.

Jeff Shuttleworth, who’s based at the county building in Oakland, covers courts, police, local government and other news in Alameda County. He’s worked for Bay City News Service most of the time since 1982, with brief detours in business news, corporate communications and other work. He’s worked in Oakland most of that time so he knows the area and its key players well.
Dennis Culver has worked as a reporter/overnight editor for Bay City News for the past five years. Prior to working at BCN, Dennis worked as a crime/breaking news reporter and sports editor in Florida for eight years. Dennis graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in journalism.
